To our Literacy Alberni Family,
In light of today’s announcement from British Columbia Centre for Disease Control regarding COVID-19, and the precautionary measures now being enforced by the Province of British Columbia, Literacy Alberni will be cancelling the following classes, sessions, and activities from March, 17th 2020 for a period of at least two weeks.
The current list of cancelled sessions includes:
- iPad Classes
- All Language Learning Sessions
- ABE English classes
- Cooking Club
- Craft Group
- Volunteer one-to-one tutoring sessions
- Conversation Circles
- Little Free Library Book Distributions (Little Free Libraries will remain within the community, we will just not be able to maintain their inventory until further notice)
- Coffee Celebration
When we are able to resume these services, we will contact each of our learners directly.
We are currently still able to safely continue providing:
- Klitsa Tutoring
- URGENT case management issues for IRCC learners
During this period of limited services, I assure you that Literacy Alberni Society will work to provide our community of learners with support, information, and assistance while we all work to do our part to limit the impacts of this pandemic.
We also want you to know that Literacy Alberni will continue monitoring our voicemail and email accounts and we will do our best to respond to your communications as quickly as possible. Please call us if you need assistance, updates, or just a friendly check-in chat.
Please be sure to check our website and Social Media page for updates about our operations.
We also encourage you to stay informed by accessing information through the following links:
If you require information about COVID-19 in languages other than English, interpretation/translation services are available by contacting: 1-833-784-4397
Our promise to you during this turbulent time is that we are here for you, and will continue to be as best we can until this situation is resolved, and we are back together once again.
Blessings to you all,
Graham Hughes
